#2008 x windows can't move into part of the screen xserver 2.7.8 usability Aug 19, 2014

I have a laptop and external display to the left of it, and I noticed after upgrading to 2.7.7 a new X Window would appear in the lower portion of the screen. Attempts to resize it or drag it into the upper portion fail, on either screen, it can't go above some invisible line (but dragging between screens works fine). I had “Displays have separate Spaces” turned on, and I read bug http://xquartz.macosforge.org/trac/ticket/1876 so I turned it off, and it fixed the problem.

#630 crash when executing setxkbmap -option "compose:lwin" xserver 2.7.9 crash Aug 26, 2012

Under Mountain Lion 10.8.1, XQuartz crashes after

$ ssh -X remote-derver

is launched. The connection is established, but XQuartz crashes as soon as I strinke any key on my local keyboard.

Here is the crash log (it refers to XQuartz 2.7.3_rc2, but the crash appears also with 2.7.2)

#695 fullscreen focus/pointer or window stacking order bug xserver 2.7.9 usability Dec 4, 2012

I'm using git head on OS 10.8 and have had an annoying problem since about 2.6.0 (as best as I can remember) with fullscreen XQuartz (i.e. NOT rootless) and openbox.

I use "focus follows mouse" and everything works as expected until I change workspaces. After that, all the windows on that workspace behave oddly.

The mouseover focus works as expected. However something is very wrong with the "window regions" that *should* be receiving clicks to "raise" them to the top. Specifically, clicking on some windows sometimes actually lowers them instead!

The behavior does *not* seem to be random; rather, very deterministic, leading me to think there is some kind of bug in the routines that handle changing focus/pointer with the root window (dix/enterleave.c), although I'm not super familiar with the code...

My current "user behavior" workaround is to either:

  • use alt-tab to specifically raise a window, at which point all windows' regions seem to work again immediately
  • click around on each non-overlapping perimeter of each window until all windows' regions seem to work again

Sometimes it seems like X11's idea of the window stacking order, perhaps, does not honor the window manager's window stacking order. But I've never had this issue with openbox under Linux or BSD X11. And clicking non-overlapping areas of windows does *not* fix the problem until I really explore the perimeter of the windows.

#494 xterm background not always redrawn xserver 2.8.0 usability Jul 21, 2011

While trying to diagnose lost modifier keys in xmonad running rootless, I restarted it which causes windows to have their borderWidth set to 0 and then 2. xterm does not reliably repaint its background in this case; sometimes it ends up all white and I have to do something that updates the background ("clear", scrolling, etc.). I am trying to come up with a set of conditions under which this failure is repeatable.

#519 Clipboard Syncing Not Working Properly pbproxy 2.8.0 usability Oct 29, 2011

Tested both on Mac OS 10.6.7. and Mac OS 10.7.1 using XQ 2.7.0 rc1 and all previous versions

Clipboard contents from X11 to Mac aqua does not work until the "Enable syncing" in the Clipboard tab of the XQuartz Preferences panel is toggled.

I don't know what component it is, maybe the server or maybe the window manager, but please fix.

Example app that I know it happens with: theWord http://www.theword.net/ . I don't use theWord, but I was just testing it for a friend, but it does happen using theWord. Please note, this is a Windows application in a WINE wrapper.

Download from this page, http://forum.theword.net/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2921

1.) Restart your Mac
2.) Launch theWord
3.) Select a word or phrase
4.) Use either keyboard shortcut or from the Edit menu "Copy" from the X11/WINE app
5.) When you find paste not working in a Native Mac aqua app, try toggling the "Enable syncing" off/on from the Pasteboard tab of XQuartz Preferences panel. You can also try copying from a Native Mac application first. (Suggestion:Before and after, check your Mac's clipboard by going to the Finder and selecting Edit -> Show Clipboard.)

Hope this helps you replicate the disease.

#447 Gamma Control (Support RandR 1.2) xserver 2.8.0 feature request Oct 16, 2010

Just a feature request...

It would be great, now especially with RandR being put in, if Xquartz could control the screens gamma. Some games in X (native or Wine) are kind of dark and have gamma sliders in them, but in Xquartz they don't do anything... because from what I can tell Xquartz has no way to control screen gamma.

This could look weird in rootless mode, so maybe make it optional for rootless, but works in fullscreen modes?

#403 Copy/Paste in Inkscape pastes bitmaps pbproxy 2.8.0 usability May 18, 2010

If the "Update Pasteboard when CLIPBOARD changes" option is checked then copy/pasting a vector graphical item in Inkscape will paste a bitmap representation of that item instead of a vector copy. To be precise, this is using Edit->Copy and Edit->Paste in the Inkscape menu.

The desired behavior is that it pastes a vector graphics object, which is what happens when the "Update Pasteboard..." option is unchecked.

#688 xterm/rxvt text and background colors change in intensity on resize/selection when manipulated on an external monitor Xplugin later usability Nov 19, 2012

This appears to be the same problem as referenced in this ticket:

The saturation level of text increases once it has been highlight, if the window has been resized, or if another window is dragged overtop the given xterm window. This is also true of the terminal background color. The original colors can be restored by dragging the xterm onto the built-in display and back. It appears that the color change happens anytime the window is redrawn on the external display. See the attached screenshot and system profile for reference.

#171 XGetImage() fails for GL windows GLX later usability Oct 3, 2008

I'm porting an X11 application to OS X and there's a section of code that uses XGetImage() to get the color of the pixel below the mouse cursor (i.e. XGetImage(dpy,d,x,y,1,1,...) ). This works as expected unless the cursor happens to be over a GL window in which case it simply returns the X window background color.

#282 GLX: Surface ID invalid after FUS GLX later usability Jun 26, 2009

I'm using MacOS 10.5.7 and XQuartz on an "early 2009" nVidia Mac mini.

When X11 is running, with no client, switching to another desktop user (without logging out) and back again causes the desktop background to become completely white, except from the icons. No background picture is shown anymore. Terminating X11 resumes normal behaviour (resuming functional icons and the background picture that I've set to change every few minutes).

On the white background, the desktop icons on the right hand side are drawn, but dead: just as if they were pictures only. The top menu line is drawn, but functional. Beside that, the screen is completely white - like erased by xsetbg.

Alt-TAB shows the running applications, permits to switch to X11.app and quit it.

Switching users is not enough to produce this bug. Wine must have been started and terminated (by the first user). Obviously Wine is doing something on behalf of one or another applications that persists even after Wine and any other X clients terminate, and is noticeable only by switching users.

I still need to investigate which .exe produce this effect. Simply running "wine winecfg" or regedit.exe is not enough.

winecfg is set to 800x600 virtual desktop mode (full screen does not seem to work?). I've compiled Wine-1.1.23 myself using nothing but the packages found on Apple's install DVD and XQuartz: no Fink, no MacPorts.

#420 withdrawing a window in X11 causes the DRI surface to refer to a destroyed CG context GLX later usability Jun 26, 2010

I've compiled the backgammon program gnubg, which uses X11, gtk2, gtkglext, ....

When I'm viewing the board using the 3D view and I select the Full Screen option from the program's View menu, the gnubg window expands to fill my screen but the board disappears, leaving only a white rectangle. The text (attached) appears in my Terminal window; the dated error messages coincide with my attempt to switch to Full Screen.

I'm using OS X 10.6.4 on a White Macbook, but the same issue occurs on my Nehalem Mac Pro. This bug has been present for some time, and I'm wondering if it's an X11 problem. I'm now using XQuartz 2.5.1_rc1 (xorg-server 1.8.1).

#443 semi-stuck H/h key in Leopard XQuartz xserver later usability Sep 8, 2010

[I first thought this was related to ticket #305, but a response there seems to indicate this is a different problem, so I will refile it as a separate bug, with additional info.]

I am still using 10.5.8 on a 2006 iMac C2D 24". I have been using the latest Leopard XQuartz dmg for a couple years; now I use 2.5.3.

I have had a semi-stuck 'H'/'h' key for almost all this time, what I can remember, and still right now. It takes a few 'slaps' of that key to get it to stop repeating so fast. AFAICT no other key acts this way here, and it acts *only* under the XQuartz subsystem (not on any native OSX itself). We can definitely throw-out any idea of hardware problem.

The main problem is that H/h tells Pan to show/hide the Usenet article headers, either the message being viewed, or upon the next article if none selected. If H/h is hit during viewing an article, the text will bounch up-&-down extremely fast, in relation to how-much-header is needing to be printed.

Also, depending on where the text cursor is directed/located (for ex inside the Subject-Search box), hitting the H/h will likely cause a string of H/h's to be repeated inside that box.

The repeat rate seems to coincide with the System Prefs setting, I know of no other way to control it (X11-wise, GTK/glib-wise, etc).

I never use Fink/Macports to build most apps (they all kill my env-vars I want/need to use). Instead I will painstakingly build all sorts of open-src apps by hand with the XCode-provided make/gcc/etc system (and I do mean a huge amount of projects, mainly: most all libs for ffmpeg/mplayer support, the GTK/glib stuff for Pan newsreader and the HDHomeRun SiliconDust apps, etc).

I do not build the full/entire GNOME system, either; we just need the components for Pan & other apps etc.

I also never have any use for Expose/Spaces, so I can say this bug is for 'plain' use [and thus different than ticket #305 AFATIC].

The keyboard in use here is the one I ordered separately, the 2007 metal USB hard-wired Apple chicklet keyboard with so-called 10-keypad on the right-hand side. Small printing on its underneath side says Model A1243.

I do not have *any* files named ~/.X* nor ~/.x* --- yes I do mean including the leading 'dot'. ;) I have no need to do that kind of fancy X11-isms here. ;)

I cannot see any of the rdar articles here either, because the MobileSafari app needed (being forcibly invoked) is broken under Leopard.

I read the mailing lists via the websites carrying them. I thought someone had mentioned this precise problem there quite some time ago, but the symptoms & remedies do not apply to my environments IIRC, ergo I have been living with the stuck H/h for quite some time. At any rate, the ticket system only produced #305 when I tried to search for (several) revelant keywords etc. I now strongly feel whatever "remedy" is required for this stuck H/h problem, that we record it here in the ticket system so it can be more-easily found for perpetuity.

[FWIW I am still worried so much about building FOSS for SL that I am staying with 10.5.x probably 'til the cows come home (sorry).]

[Also FWIW I follow a ton of FOSS apps thru the GMane maillist/Usenet system there, which is perhaps why you-all might not have heard of me. ;) I hope have your list-mgrs join GMane if not already.]

[Lastly FWIW I am medically disabled / retired. Do this as a hobby to keep braincells sharp. My former regular job was deeply Computer Spechuslist {purposely misspelled to get around your trac spam filtering} / SystemS Programming, in everything from Mainframes down to FreeBSD/Linux, for nearly 30-years. I do feel I know my way around "problem reports" etc, so that's why I type so darn much here, and why I feel we need to *properly* archive the kinds of info they can save for perpetuity.]

Please advise?

Thank you.

#495 bad terminal redraw performance in osx lion for wide windows xserver later usability Jul 21, 2011

In OSX lion, when I have a terminal larger than about 1640 px, sometimes redraw slows down dramatically and it sometimes takes multiple seconds to redraw the entire screen.

Tried both xterm and urxvt installed from macports, they both exhibit this behavior.

In terms of redraw, I mean: run 'ls' a couple of times till it scrolls, clear the window, resize the window, or hide and show the window.

#499 Update Pasteboard when CLIPBOARD changes only works when XQuartz is active. quartz-wm later usability Jul 30, 2011

I've been trying to get vim to use the OS X pasteboard lately. In an X11-enabled vim I can type "+Y to copy to CLIPBOARD, which XQuartz then syncs to the pasteboard.

But this only works if I'm in an xterm. I usually use vim from ITerm2 and then the pasteboard is not updated. $DISPLAY is set properly, if there's no X11 connection vim will just beep.

I'm guessing this is done explicitly as a safety matter, but I think that's not really needed. Please change it.

#593 Monoprice tablet sends events as cursor (probably NSUnknownPointingDevice) xserver later usability Jul 2, 2012

I switched to a new Monoprice [UC-Logic] tablet recently. It works perfectly in non-Xquartz apps [Seashore and ArtRage as well as the system pen panel], but in programs running through Xquartz it cannot make strokes. It can click menus and UI, but any lines I try to make on the canvas [In both GIMP and MyPaint] do not appear. Changing both the pen and Xquartz virtual pointer to "disabled" mode allows the tablet to be used as a mouse, but no pressure sensitivity is recognized.

Furthermore, when testing input events [and the pen mode set to screen] the only events recognized on the Monoprice tablet are "Enter" and "Leave", no button presses or motion events. When set to disabled, motion and button presses are noticed, but pressure is still not recorded.

I can attach any screeshots/casts or provide more system information if necessary. I use Xquartz-based art programs daily so I am very interested in getting this fixed.

#661 XQuartz does not support retina displays well xserver later usability Oct 8, 2012

Run XQuartz 2.7.4, and trigger xfontsel, select any font, they all looks ugly. In all X11 applications, fonts are blurry or ugly (just check the title on any X11 window).

This might be due to the retina display on MacBookPro, but I would expect the font renderer in XQuartz to be aware of the screen resolution at least for text rendering.

#1579 Issue with overlapping Safari and X11 windows xserver later usability Jun 27, 2014

I'm able to make this happen with a limited amount of repeatability at the moment, but this is happening with:

1) I have (at least) two Safari windows open: one on my main display, and one on a second display.

2) I have an X11 window open on my main display which overlaps the Safari window there (may or may not be in front of the Safari window).

3) From the state of Safari window on the second display having app and window focus, I click on X11 window on the main display.

The result is the X11 window and X11 app gain focus on the main display, but sometimes the Safari window on the main display appears in front of the X11 window (may stay in front, or may move to being in front if it was behind).

Of note, I observe that whenever I switch from Safari on the second display to X11 on the main display, Safari appears to quickly re-draw its front-most window in the main display and I can see that during the moment of re-draw, that Safari window gets window focus as the top-left buttons gain red-yellow-green color briefly. My *guess* is that this sometimes occurs *after* X11 has gained application focus and has redrawn its X11 window. So perhaps the bug is with Safari's window re-draw happening late, or perhaps X11 isn't giving Safari sufficient time to sort itself out. Maybe there's a hand-off signal that's being ignored by one or the other (I don't know these details).

It may very well be that I will not be able to replicate the issue again if asked to do so. I would't be surprised if there is something relevant about this current situation which I have failed to document. But I would be willing to try just about any tests asked of me if it would help.

I'm using X11 2.7.6, OS X 10.9.3, Safari 7.0.4 on a 2010 MacBook Pro using the dedicated GPU.

Thanks, -Gene

#232 fullscreen on one screen of a multimonitor system xserver later feature request Jan 21, 2009

It would be nice to setup/start X11 in fullscreen mode only one one screen of a multi-monitor system.

to mention an example: The Application RemoteDesktopClient can be set up in the preferences in such a way, that one can choose the resolution of the window/screen, and in which Screen it should appear (Main Display / Secondary Display)

#534 Move XQuartz.app from dock to status bar xserver later feature request Jan 11, 2012

Currently, when using any X application, XQuartz starts up, along with the application in the dock. This is both confusing to new users, ones who don't understand the point of XQuartz, and (subjective opinion) is a pain to look at and use. I therefore request we take XQuartz out of the dock, and shove it into the status bar, in the way that CygWin puts shows it xserver in it's status dock. See attached screenshot.

#86 Command-dragging a background window incorrectly brings that window to the front xserver later usability Apr 1, 2008

In regular OS X, if you drag a background window it immediately comes to the front and you drag it via the mouse. However if command-drag a background window it stays in the background while being dragged and never comes to the front. This behavior is not reflected in X11 windows.

#98 Switching spaces with spaces view (rather than keyboard) does not focus x11 if it is top in the new space xserver later usability May 3, 2008

Switching spaces with the keyboard shortcut always correctly focuses the top application, including X11, but using the overhead view or whatever apple has decided to call it, it works for every application I have except X11.

The real issue is that doing it that way X11 doesn't get focus when switched to, and sometimes doesn't give it up when one switches away, I've done some terrible things accidentally after switching spaces and assuming focus was taken.

#99 FFM: Hovered window doesn't active on space change xserver later usability May 3, 2008

When I use control-arrow-key to switch to another Space, if the cursor is within an X11 window and focus-follows-mouse is on, I'd expect that window to acquire focus. It doesn't though. Moving the mouse even slightly will cause it to acquire focus, but IMHO I shouldn't have to do that.

Some experimentation says that the behavior is the same when using the F8 view to switch spaces, though you have to be quite careful when clicking in the view not to move the mouse, else that motion will allow focus to be acquired.

Note: this is with 2.2.1 but the "version" menu hasn't yet got an entry for that.

#106 Windows jump about under new multiple screen support xserver later usability May 7, 2008

The new multiple screen support is great, but:

Set up two displays so that the primary screen has a longer y dimension than the secondary screen, and both are aligned at the bottom. The secondary screen should be on the left. Create a non-X11 window that fills the primary screen. Drag it leftwards so it starts going off the primary screen. Part of the window is now invisible. Now do the same for an X11 window. One pixel BEFORE the window starts to leave the primary display, it jumps down so its title bar is at the top of the secondary display. Two things to observe:

  • The window shouldn't jump at all - it should just go offscreen, like other non-X11 windows
  • It certainly shouldn't do it one pixel early, when the whole window is actually still on the primary display.

Similar problems may occur for other screen arrangements, too.

#107 Windows that don't get focus have inactive appearance quartz-wm later usability May 7, 2008

I don't know (a) if this is considered a bug or a feature or (b) whether this is relevant to xquartz or quartz-wm. Programs such as xclock always have the OS X 'inactive' title bar appearance, even when clicked or dragged around. I think they should come forward with the active title bar, like other OS X apps.

#109 Quit dialog doesn't return focus to frontmost window xserver later usability May 17, 2008

When I attempt to quit but think better of it when the "really quit?" dialog is displayed (i.e., select cancel), the window that had been frontmost is no longer active. Other X11.app windows also seem to cause this (not applications, but the X11.app preferences window and the Applications menu Customize window).

#185 FFM: Odd focus changes when OSX windows are interleaved with X11 windows xserver later usability Oct 30, 2008

Jeremy, This is the bug report you requested in your post to x11-users@… (msg-id: <5CFCFFE2-0D8F-47FE-A3BB-E99B014406DF@…>)

This part of the bug is fixed in 2.3.2beta1 xorg-server 1.4.2-apple20: X11 windows used to gain focus when the mouse moved over them while they were obscured by an OSX window (e.g. Safari) which was the frontmost window.

The following still occurs (with 2.3.2beta1 xorg-server 1.4.2-apple20): The effect is only visible with wm_ffm true. Focus moves to partially obscured X11 windows only when X11 is the topmost application. If the X11 windows are interleaved with OSX windows with X11 in the foreground (e.g. xterm has focus and is topmost; Safari is next and partially obscures another X11 xterm), if I move my mouse out of the top xterm and over the Safari window (without raising Safari), then the xterm beneath the Safari window receives focus whenever the mouse hovers over the area that it occupies which is beneath Safari's window. However, I believe that is how the system has to work. On the other hand were OSX to support FFM for all applications, then I suppose this would not be correct behavior.

So this is not really a bug (I guess), and I do like the fact that I can interleave OSX and X11 windows (which way back was not possible). I would not wish to give up the interleaving. However, the focus is a bit distracting and may point to something under the hood which is not working as planned.

Since I can't seem to reopen the bug report #36, I have to write a new one.

First of all, from all the greek community, A BIG THANK YOU :) We were really missing greek keyboard layout. Indeed the bug has been fixed.

Keyboard layout works mostly as expected and

1) Keyboard change: works

2) [accent] followed by [letter] : works

3) [SHIFT]+[accent] followd by [letter] : works

Still, there is one minor problem pending, so I reopen this bug.

With greek keyboard enabled, when I press [OPT]+[;] followed by [i] or [OPT]+[;] followed by [u] instead of getting ΐ or ΰ , I get ΅ι or ΅υ

This is not a common combination in modern greek, but it is there.

To help you understand why this bug is there, originally in X11 layout, to get the same character we use [;] followed by [SHIFT]+[;] followed by [i] - or [u]. This is a multi-combination character.

In Mac OSX though, instead of [;]...[SHIFT]+[;] we have to use [OPT]+[;]

#244 Accessibility API bridging xserver later usability Feb 21, 2009

Currently using

The X11 windows do not appear in the AX* objects.

For example, AXMainWindow, AXFocusedWindow, etc are not implemented.

I am looking at X11 using the Accessibility Inspector Sample Code:

<AXApplication: “X11”>

AXRole: “AXApplication” AXRoleDescription: “application” AXChildren: “<array of size 1>” AXFrontmost (W): “0” AXHidden (W): “0” AXFocusedUIElement: “<AXApplication: “X11”>” AXTitle: “X11” AXMenuBar: “<AXMenuBar>” AXWindows: “<array of size 0>” AXMainWindow: “(null)” AXFocusedWindow: “(null)”

All I'd like to do is get the window list and be able to manipulate the window dimensions through AX*. This is to enable apps like Mercury Mover to manipulate X11 windows.

I would be more than happy to test any patches.

#328 Resize Corner Issue Xplugin later usability Dec 16, 2009

I have the following problem. When I use X11 and Xquartz, the resize corner's unavailability is not passed on to the given application so that it doesn't try to put things there. (See pictures below.) In the nedit window, the down arrow is covered. In the xterm window, the scrollbar is covered. It would be nice if Xquartz put an unusable bar at the bottom of the window, similar to what happens when viewing the status bar in Safari. Does anyone else have a different solution? Thanks, Sterling

#336 Xorg-server-devel @ on 10.5.8 does not allow paste when editing its programmes menu xserver later usability Dec 28, 2009

I tried to add the complete invocations of GNU Emacsen 22.3, 23.1.50, and 23.1.90 (not yet installed) – and pasting them into the corresponding fields did not work, nothing of the previously from Terminal or Emacs.app copied text appeared. (Copies of entries in ~/.xinitrc etc.)

#697 Add support for glXImportContextEXT GLX later usability Dec 11, 2012

#849 With X11 forwarding X11.app does revert to integrated GPU once you quit the programm that triggered discrete GPU xserver later usability Dec 23, 2013

Running VirtualBox on a FreeBSD 9.2-RELEASE amd64 machine via ssh X11 forwarding back to a Retina Macbook Pro running 10.9.1 with XQuartz 2.7.5 turns on the discrete GPU. After you quit VirtualBox the discrete GPU remains active with X11.app as a dependency.

Once you quit VirtualBox the discrete GPU remains active as reported by gfxCardStatus (and System Information.app)
X11.app is a dependency reported by gfxCardStatus

Once you quit VirtualBox the integrated GPU is turned on

0) With XQuartz already running and "Automatic graphics switching" turned on (Energy Saver.prefPane)
1) ssh -X host VirtualBox
2) wait for VirtualBox to load
3) quit VirtualBox

#2000 Wrong screen size with X11 forwarding xserver OSX usability Aug 11, 2014

I'm running OSX 10.9.4 with XQuartz 2.7.7_rc2. When I manually start XQuartz.app, the dimensions in the logfile are

x: 0, y: 744, w: 1280, h: 778
x: 1280, y: 0, w: 1920, h: 1178

thus when I connect to a server with SSH X11 forwarding, windows are spawned on the monitor and behave as usual. However, when XQuartz is initially closed and is requested to open because I have connected to a server with X11 forwarding, the screen dimensions are initialised as

x: 0, y: 744, w: 1280, h: 1122
x: 1280, y: 0, w: 1920, h: 1522

and windows are able to spawn outside the physical dimensions of my monitor, so I can't interact with them correctly. The only other difference is that when X11 forwarding opens XQuartz, it seems to add the --listenonly flag, which is not present when I launch XQuartz.app manually:

X11.app: main(): argc=2
        argv[0] = /Applications/Utilities/XQuartz.app/Contents/MacOS/X11.bin
        argv[1] = --listenonly

#58 x11 windows losing focus after a click xserver OSX usability Feb 6, 2008

I'm using version 2.1.3 on 10.5.1 and I'm experiencing the "focus loss" bug that many users reported months ago using Last.fm with AudioScrobbler plugin (as described at http://lists.apple.com/archives/x11-users/2007/Nov//msg00612.html ) while running Mercury Messenger with the "show current song from iTunes" setting enabled (I guessed this reading macosxhints FAQ (bug number 42, http://forums.macosxhints.com/showthread.php?t=80171&page=3 ); disabling that setting in Mercury fixed the problem

#305 Stuck keys in X11 when using Expose/Spaces xserver OSX usability Sep 2, 2009

When using expose/spaces with X11, if a key is being held down when the expose/spaces is activated, X11 acts as if that key is being held down until the keyboard is used again.

Steps to replicate:

Start X11 Open an xterm Hold down any key in that Xterm While holding down that key, activate Expose (e.g. press F9) Take finger off key being held down, notice that the characters continue to appear in the xterm window.

Pressing F9 again does not stop this. Also if using spaces, the key presses will transfer to the active X11 window on the new space (suggesting this is not a bug in xterm, but rather the way X11 traps keyboard input).

Note also filed as Radar #7190678 as this affects SL's X11 also.

Note: See TracReports for help on using and creating reports.
